Pros
  1. Good company to start your career.
  2. You will get high-level knowledge on how systems work in typical web development.
  3. You can learn about new technologies (also see Cons section).
  4. Culture.
  5. Most importantly, salary.
Cons
  1. Your learning stops at max 1.5 years. You won't have much exposure to outside-world technology. You will ONLY grow at Amazon.

Basic example: You will not learn HTML at Amazon. Instead, they have mapped HTML to AUI, and you'll use only AUI (Amazon User Interface).

<html> tag mapped to <wcs>

  1. Everything is UI at Amazon. You will not know how deployment works. You will only have a high-level knowledge of how it works.

But most companies deploy manually, and this is the expectation when you search for a new company.

  1. They ask you to work only 6-8 hours per day and also ask you not to work on weekends. But the project they provide will take 10-12 hours of work per day. They are the ones who ask us to limit our work and then question us if the deadline is not met. Seriously, what is this?
Advice to Management

Management sucks at Amazon.
