In the initial phase of your job, you get to learn.
- Worst work-life balance.
- Non-supportive managers (all are focused on how to get themselves promoted; nobody cares about what happens to you).
- If you are trying to get promoted internally to SDE-2, you are already better than most of the lateral hires working as SDE-2 on the team.
Do care about your reportees if you really want to retain them. They really don't like being in a team where a manager doesn't care about the growth of their reportees. Believe me, nobody wants to stay in such teams/companies.
