Amazon seems to be one of the few companies that still tries to act like a startup, although it is a tech giant. While there are necessary processes like a big company, it also has a few ways of working very similar to a startup.
Everything on the inside is Amazon-specific. It will take you months or even a year to just get comfortable with all the Amazon tools for development. This reduces the fast learning curve for freshers or those with less experience. Plus, upon leaving, you cannot carry forward most of your Amazon-specific knowledge of their tools.
Although leave and time off are pretty chill and not micromanaged, the expectation is generally high. So, if you are a responsible engineer, you will work your a** off because of the expectation.
Monthly salary reduces in the second year, and you don't get any stocks until the second year.
