Work is good. Peers are competitive, but lower management is totally incompetent
Work is very interesting. Food coupons are free. You would know how far you can stretch yourself (trust me on this). Your fellow SDEs are among the brightest pool in the nation, so you get to learn a lot from them.
Lower management, for example SDM (L6 or so), is totally incompetent.
They have no idea whatsoever about software development. They will not appreciate your good work nor understand the challenge when you are stuck somewhere.
They won't allow you to take credit for anything you have done in front of senior management because they just want to steal all the credit.
Please stick to the same level of standards while you hire an SDM as you do in the case of an SDE. You hire the best of the best when it comes to SDEs. Please ensure the intelligence and intellect of an SDM matches that of his/her subordinates.
