Pros

Amazon employees are a lot of very smart people who are happy to work with you, and who genuinely care. The company culture emphasizes company values, or "leadership principles," including customer obsession. For the most part, the culture is extremely pragmatic.

Cons

Increasingly becoming cold and corporate. Standards have slipped, and much of the company culture that made people love Amazon in the beginning is diluted or gone, even at top levels of leadership. In many cases, pragmatism has been replaced by bureaucracy.

Work expectations depend on teams, and I've been lucky, but some teams do end up significantly overworking their employees.

Advice to Management

The flywheel is broken. Amazon needs to go back to the basics that made it what it is.
