Pros

Amazon was an awesome place to learn. The whole company is very data and document centric. It's very easy to find designs and documentation for almost any project you want to know about.

Principal engineers also give a lot of tech talks that are recorded and available to anyone in the company.

I learned so much at Amazon.

Cons

Work here is very fast-paced. To survive, you need to get pretty good at scheduling. Managers listen to data, though, so if you can show evidence that you don't have enough time for a project, they will work with you to adjust scope. It can get very stressful if you are not good at this or don't have a great manager, though.

Advice to Management

Treat employees a little less like robots. Amazon is so good at documenting that their employees almost become replaceable. It can be good in a lot of ways, but it can really suck the fun out of work. Just make sure you are being sustainable.
