Cons

Non-monetary benefits are lacking (less PTO and Parental Leave than other big tech).

401k matching is behind the rest of the industry.

Recently, lots of non-employee-friendly policies were put into place.

Company culture seems increasingly cutthroat and adversarial.

Some teams have impactful work, while others are stuck in analysis paralysis and priorities are constantly shifted.

Advice to Management

Since adopting the Leadership Principal of "Strive to be Earth’s Best Employer," I've seen the relationship between the company and its employees becoming increasingly adversarial. Instead of taking more and more perks away from employees, why not add some?

Also, at the heart of this LP is the idea that leaders empower those they lead to make them more successful. Yet, the company culture pits managers against their employees, otherwise the managers are at fault.

This is toxic, and managers should be encouraged to advocate for their employees without the fear of retaliation.
