Unique and fascinating internal tooling is a huge boost to development productivity. The ability to design for high scale and highly complex environments is something you will rarely find elsewhere.
Amazon's RTT and RTO policies are a short-sighted mandate of a few, affecting the job stability of thousands. Little to no communication is making this a layoff without actually calling it a layoff. There are just vague promises if you say you're willing to relocate, and threats if you are not.
Listen to the data, start valuing what's best for the customers instead of the shareholders.
