It's common to switch roles if you feel you want something new, but you can stay at Amazon. They take care of you.
There's a policy of letting you go if you challenge them with the fact that you're getting better offers from other companies. In a sense, I understand. But everybody is expendable (at least at standard levels, not sure about top management). Plain monetary compensation is not on par with the other big 5s.
