Most people are very knowledgeable in their domain and can be great mentors.
Your manager is in complete control of your experience as an employee. If he/she doesn’t like you, you will have an awful time, and there is no point in going to your skip manager or HR – they will do nothing. Managers can also make your experience an awesome one; this is a double-edged sword.
If you put people in charge of other people, make sure they know what they’re doing, are knowledgeable in their field, and that they know how to guide a team.
Get rid of the brilliant jerks.
