The people with whom you get to work depends on the team you are involved with. Most people whom I met in the Network Modernisation Team (NEMO) were extremely friendly and very easy to get in touch with.
Sometimes the projects are slow. At times, you will have to handle technically not that great dev tasks. Increments and pay, in general, should be higher. There should not be a huge pay difference according to the college the candidate went to.
