Pros

Great family benefits and parental leave, good work-life balance. Low-stress environment.

Cons

There's a lot of corporate structure and practices that can get in the way of self-direction of teams. There's low visibility into why management makes certain decisions or changes, and I often waited a while for updates on promotions and raises.

Advice to Management

Don't conduct promotions in waves. When an employee deserves a promotion, make it clear what the criteria are and promote them on a person-by-person basis. It doesn't make much sense to have 20 people in a sub-org get promotions at the same time because they likely joined and progressed at different rates.

Be transparent. It won't hurt the company having employees know what's going on in management. Secrecy only loses trust.
