Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

The first round was a virtual debug of broken code.

The full loop consisted of the typical system design, two coding rounds, and behavioral portions. All were virtual, with the option to split over two days.

I "passed" the full loop (final round), but the team thought I would be a better match elsewhere. The recruiter then pinged some chat to see if any other teams were interested. He received two replies, which meant two more interviews.

My first follow-on was another round of coding and behavioral interviews, but in person this time. I also "passed" this round, but the team decided not to move forward with hiring for whatever reason. The recruiter was even confused why they decided not to hire me.

The second team matching phase was a call with a manager, but he was looking for a specific skillset.

All in all, after multiple "passes" and sunk hours, I never received an offer.

It seems they're still figuring out how to conduct interviews over there.
