I was contacted via email regarding an opportunity with Apple. The phone interview was scheduled one week after the initial contact by the recruiter. The phone interview went well; however, I had to wait two weeks for a response. I was selected for an onsite interview and met with five very bright verification engineers.

Design questions were asked, including setup and hold time, aptitude-based questions (apples and oranges), and Perl scripting and programming-based questions. There were also other challenging open-ended questions, such as designing an electrical circuit.

Pros: There is a lot of horizontal movement and opportunities to grow within teams at Apple. I got the feeling that they take good care of their employees and take steps to ensure employees remain excited about their work.

Cons: Nothing major, just a personal opinion. There was a one-hour wait after the technical interviews. While I was waiting in the lobby for round 2, the recruiter called me on my cell to inform me that I wasn't selected and I could leave. I was disappointed, of course. Also, it's my opinion that the least a company can do is break the news to its candidates face-to-face while they are still on campus, rather than over the phone like that. Candidates usually put in a lot of effort and take days off from work to pursue their dream job.

Overall, the experience was good.

Design an electrical circuit with switches and a voltage source for a particular application. I wasn't expecting one since my area of expertise is mostly digital.
