I received an email from a recruiter and had two technical Skype interviews. I passed those and was invited to an onsite interview.
The onsite interview consisted of eight one-on-one technical interviews.
Logistics:
In spite of what I had read and expected from Apple, the interview process was very unorganized. I was supposed to meet with the recruiter first, but they never showed up, and I never saw any HR or recruiter. The most surprising part for me was the third interviewer, who stated they had not reserved any room for the interview. So, he decided to interview me in a lobby that was super loud and busy at that time (it was almost lunchtime).
The fifth interviewer also left me alone in the interview room, and no one showed up for half an hour. I emailed the recruiter, and she told me I was supposed to have a break at that time, but no one knew what the plan was.
Technical Questions:
The questions ranged from basic electrical concepts to very detailed aspects of the technical work they were hiring for. I got the feeling that Apple had not prepared or organized questions for the interviewers. Therefore, questions were chosen based on the personal preference of each interviewer. The consequence was that I was asked the same technical question by two to three interviewers.
Most interviewers had prepared their questions in their minds ahead of time. However, the third interviewer had not prepared anything and asked me to explain the topology I had worked with in my past company, which is against Apple policy and rules.
Most interviewers were reasonable and friendly; however, my third interviewer (the lobby guy) was annoyingly unfocused and was jumping from subject to subject without letting me think and answer.
Non-Technical Questions:
Only two to three interviewers asked me serious non-technical questions. All were standard questions like, "Why do you want this job?" etc.
The last interviewer was trying to catch me out about why I left my first job, and he had a kind of "Big Bang Theory" personality, asking an easy question in a hard way.
Except for the third interview, which was annoying (because of the reasons above), all others were excellent to me, and I answered all questions well. However, I was rejected after I followed up the next week.
