Readiness Engineer Interview Experience

April 5, 2022
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

10+ interview rounds (internal candidate).

Discriminatory practices:

  • Not hired. Reason given: I appeared small in the virtual interview and did not make enough eye contact. "But you're great, though."
  • As a person with autism, eye contact is challenging, especially over virtual meetings. Eye contact has nothing to do with the job description, and I found the appraisal of my physical size inappropriate as well.
  • Multiple interviewers asked inappropriate questions about my religion and whether I had family obligations.
  • Hiring manager opted to hire a friend from a previous company over promoting a tenured internal candidate.

Questions

Do you have family obligations that might get in the way?

What church do you go to?
