Pros

Applied Materials has a reputation for being a leader in the industry.

They have good benefits, a professional atmosphere, and the company makes an attempt at employee work/life balance (on-site dry cleaning, car wash, work from home, etc).

It was a good place to develop professionally when manufacturing was in the US. The solar side of the business will provide this opportunity now.

Cons

A very lean environment creates challenges at all levels. Outsourcing over the years has led to job eliminations and the lean environment on the semiconductor side. The lean environment causes work/life balance issues for those with a life.

Advice to Management

Don't rely so much on ROW. Be prepared.

Give up-to-date, honest feedback to employees.

Major company projects need better vision and leadership.
