The entire process is just one "find an element in a sorted array" algorithm exercise. All other aspects don't matter (your experience, language knowledge, etc.). They give the same question to a person with no experience and to someone with 20 years of experience.
If you are not comfortable using vim (without any add-ons, etc.) and gdb through SSH, this interview is not for you.
