The manager asked me why I was leaving the company. I explained that I wanted to develop new technologies and felt stuck with internal tooling in my previous role.
He stated that, based on this information, it wouldn't be a good fit. He also mentioned he already had internal candidates lined up for the position and bluntly told me it would be a waste of time to continue interviewing.
I was upset and should have simply said, "Okay, thank you for your time." Instead, I asked him why he interviewed me if he already had internal candidates. He defended himself by saying he was trying to do "what is best for his team."
I feel disappointed about the lack of transparency in the process and being misled by the recruiter. The recruiter had described this as one of the best places to work, where everyone is "super nice" and they "love to train Juniors." This clearly wasn't the case, as they gave up on me in the first round.
