Process

I was contacted by a recruiter who conducted a quick phone screen with me. I was then given a choice of possible times for a technical interview.

The technical interview was the first of its kind I'd ever done. I tend to avoid companies that use whiteboarding, but the opportunity seemed too good to pass up. I was given about 30 minutes to answer an algorithm question. After implementing a solution using recursion, I was beginning to explain why it wasn't the ideal solution and was about to iterate on it to something better when we moved on to the second part: a system design question.

The interviewers asked some leading questions that I felt weren't ideal for me personally. They shifted my thought process from a meticulous, systematic step-by-step approach to being somewhat all over the place. I would have preferred to finish my current thought before being prompted to move on.

After the interview, I requested feedback from my recruiter, who happily shared notes from the session. All in all, it was an informative process and good practice for future whiteboard interviews.

Questions

Pretty standard LeetCode medium question.

Simple system design question (no need to consider scaling, load balancing, etc.).
