I applied to Asana as soon as the application process opened. Then I received a CodeSignal take-home assessment with four coding challenges. I solved three out of the four questions. Typically, candidates who solve one or two out of four questions advance to the next step, so I was excited about my chances.
A week later, I sent a follow-up to the recruiter. She said she would get back to me by the end of that week. Over a month later, she sent an email stating that the role was filled and the process was closed.
I asked for feedback, as I had performed well on my take-home assessment and wanted to understand why I didn’t move forward. She explained that it was more due to the volume of applications than my performance.
Is this process a lottery? If a company cannot handle a large volume of applications, why don’t they close the application process earlier? Is it a way to boast about how many people want to work for the company?
I hope a recruiter does not bother to reply to my review with “I’m sorry you had a bad experience; we’re working hard to make it better.” They clearly didn't bother to review my application or the results of my take-home challenge.
This was the most disrespectful process I have been through.
It's been so long that I don't even remember.
I know it was:
Just do LeetCode and you'll be fine.
