Advice to Management

If technology changes, having your employees retooled is key. I know upper management will point to the large number of courses offered, but there are a lot of employees taking those courses with no open positions available. It seems like you're pulling the wool over the eyes of the employees and just hoping that it's retraining for some other company, and you can just feel good about yourselves that the opportunity was made available.

It's not just dollars and cents for us, but it's a kick in the gut when you have to try to find a new job in your mid-40s or 50s. The younger generation will have the skillset from school, so there is not a tremendous incentive to hire "experience" for 50% more than what you get from some really smart kid out of college.
