Process

I got in touch with an Atlassian recruiter after applying online. They were extremely friendly and easy to talk to.

First, we organized a phone interview. It was pretty much a get-to-know-you talk. We discussed what I currently do, my goals and ambitions, and whether I had experience with what was mentioned in their job advertisement.

The next stage was the in-house tech test. You book an hour-long slot where you are required to complete a front-end task alongside an Atlassian developer. There was a huge emphasis on communicating your every step and thought process in solving the problem.

You must know the ins and outs of vanilla JavaScript (ES6+), including page lifecycle events. Be able to provide reasoning for why you chose to implement it the way you did, understand the performance impacts of alternative solutions, and be able to refer to documentation efficiently.

Always keep in mind they're just developers like you; treat them as you would at your own workplace, and you'll be most of the way there.

That's as far as I went, as I was a little too rough around the edges.
