Pros: The illusion of impact feels good at the start. A competitive salary.

Cons: You are just a factory worker at Atlassian. Witnessing over 6 years growing from under 1,000 staff to over 10,000, they have been way too aggressive with hiring, bringing on people promoting a toxic work culture. This has changed this company from a happy and fun place to work that used to value teamwork into now a glorified, competitive sweatshop where everyone wants to screw each other over, rather than actually working together. It's such a shame because that's what once made this company so great.

Pros: Interesting outlook, keeps growing fast regardless of the actual quality within.

Cons: In 10 years of my career as a software engineer, this is the first company I consider a fraud. Every aspect of the management I have observed at every point when I worked here yielded the same results. Gotta give them credit though for the good masquerade they put up. If you pay attention, you will see most people talk a lot, yet no effort is spent and nothing got done after a while. I felt funny any time anyone says they'd fix/contribute something in some public lib that they are using. Given they do not know how it works, I highly doubt they even know basic programming. I did take a leap of faith, put out my best efforts while I wait and watch though. Drawing into this kind of discussions, to me, is a kind of insulting. I am a developer, not a cheap actor. Same behavior on PM or higher levels of management. They act like they care, yet put up no effort, and of course, no result after years. Changes in middle management also conveniently happen. Gossiping seems to be the area high-paid people were focusing on while I was there.

Pros: The usual corporate tech benefits: kitchen-prepped hot breakfasts and lunches, amazing office amenities, and actually a comfortable physical environment to work from.

Cons: The culture used to be more social, and people were encouraged to be open and transparent. That is no longer the case. The company has transitioned into a full-time performance management machine. Trust is at an all-time low, and you can palpably feel the tension and stress in the air.
