The same set of questions are asked, but what's disappointing is that many interviewers have low years of experience (YOE) even when interviewing a senior engineer and really don't understand what should be gauged in a candidate. My system design interview was the worst across several companies. The interviewer was super focused on HTTP APIs and their resource hierarchy, with very little knowledge of how large-scale systems actually work. I am a little relieved I failed that round because it was painfully obvious that this senior engineer did not understand distributed systems and just wanted a predetermined set of answers. Do not waste time here unless you are in dire need.
