I was connected by HR recruiters. Two rounds were scheduled, both coding rounds. The interviewers were changed for both rounds at the very last moment.
First round: A function design question related to server situations. Second round: A simple coding question based on a normal data structure.
I did well in both rounds. In the first round, the code ran for one scenario. For the second scenario, I gave the approach I would be following, and as time was flowing, I didn't code.
In the second round, I was able to come up with neat and modular code. The code ran without any failure on the first attempt.
I was convinced that I did well and would be getting another round. But unfortunately, I received an email stating that they have found a stronger candidate and are not proceeding with my application.
So the crux is that it is all luck! Even though you do well in an interview, it doesn't matter much; there are other factors that also play a role.
