The new CTO has been introducing a slew of changes over the last year. I could see the culture deteriorating quickly in pockets. Your promotion is heavily dependent on who your manager is. Not all work is interesting, as a lot of teams have to deal with Keep The Lights On (KTLO).
I think management needs to listen to their employees a lot more because a series of decisions and re-orgs that have happened in the last few quarters does have its own adverse effect.
