I applied online for the position and received a response from an internal recruiter a few days later. He said he was "very impressed" with my resume. We went through some basic questions about my experience and current role. He asked me to complete a coding exercise, which I did within two days.

After completing the exercise, I was given an opportunity to interview with the manager for the role, who was based in another city. We conducted a video meeting, and I was subsequently invited to a local onsite interview with the team.

My interview was midweek. I interviewed with eight people in total, some individually and some in pairs. Everyone was nice and thoughtful. Most of the interview questions were good. One pair seemed like they had just found a website of interview questions and were asking those.

My last interview was again with the manager of the team, who told me they would speak with the team and I should hear back from the recruiter that Friday or Monday. I received no contact. I wrote to the recruiter the following Tuesday and the manager the following Thursday. I did not receive any communication for a full week after being told I would.

When the email finally came, informing me they were not interested in continuing with me, the recruiter got my name wrong. Mistakes happen, but paired with the lack of communication for a full week, it came off as very inconsiderate.

Excepting the communication issue at the end, everyone was professional, and the experience was an overall good one.
