I had a screening round with the Hiring Manager and three more technical rounds afterward. The interview level difficulty was medium; nothing too hard. Everyone I spoke to was very enthusiastic about their team and their work.
Finally, after all the rounds were completed, I received an email from HR stating that the feedback was positive. We then had a call to discuss compensation and a joining date. After that, I did not receive any further communication.
However, two weeks later, I found out they had interviewed one more candidate and decided to extend an offer to that person.
What I fail to understand is why they bothered interviewing me and wasting my time if they didn't want to give me an offer or were never interested in me. Because of the "offer" you guys proposed, I declined an offer from another company.
I would never interview here again and would advise others to keep their options open, even if they receive an offer from here.
