Pros
  • Autodesk seems to be on track to be on par with the top players in the market with regards to compensation.
Cons

A culture of irony. Autodesk has a series of HR policies and programs to make you feel you belonged, but they may lay you off without a single warning, even when you are a high-performer.

Autodesk lays off people while earning a record-high profit during this pandemic. If you are looking for a compassionate company, look elsewhere because this is not one of them. Some companies lose money during this difficult time and still treat their employees better.

Leaders not knowing what to do with the organization. Series of re-org after re-org. Autodesk likes to promote leaders that are technically capable but have mediocre/poor people management skills. We became guinea pigs for their substandard business decisions.

Advice to Management

The management should consider adding a culture sprint about how to effectively survive a lay-off for the survivors/observers. No matter how much you want to advocate belonging, empowering, or bringing authentic selves, these will not have much effect if people are scared or have no certainty about their jobs.
