The interview process was opaque. I was not given a heads-up on the interview process, the nature of interview questions, or even the number of rounds. The interviews were scheduled arbitrarily without any prior intimation. Throughout the interview process, I was made to feel as if Bank of America was doing a huge favor by considering and processing my candidature.

The talent acquisition team surpassed the technical interview folks in terms of unprofessional conduct and insensitivity. The salary negotiations took place as if they were vegetable vendors! I was repeatedly asked for commitments, while they were not even ready to roll out an offer letter or commit to a joining date.

Normal candidates would have quit pursuing such openings at this stage; however, I persisted due to the investment involved and the fact that I did not have any good offers in the pipeline.

The worst was yet to come. My joining dates were shifted 5-6 times in a span of two weeks. Finally, I was verbally assured that the last intimated joining date held good, and I was asked to report to Bank of America's Mumbai office. To my dismay, when I reported for joining at their office premises, I was shooed away as if I were an undesired, over-eager salesman!

Such a disaster would put even the most slothful of souls to action, but I was transacting with BofA, a 'multinational' and a 'dream employer' in a third-world country like India. None of the people, and I repeat, none of the people involved during my hiring process came forward to own up to this humiliating incident and issue a formal apology or help me with the status on my joining. With a pathetic experience such as this, I advise people against joining this company.
