You go in for an interview with the recruiter and the actual person whose team you'll be joining. In my case, the person whose team had the opening was remote, and he joined via video conference.

I applied through the recruiter. They asked me if I could do the interview in a few days. I said okay and requested them to do it on Friday (it was Tuesday). The recruiter said okay, but later in the evening called me and said, "Can it be tomorrow?"
