For a bank, they use far more advanced systems and technology than you might think. When you get on a hot, well-funded project, it is stunning to see the behemoth move and execute on highly complex and enormous-scale projects.
The maintenance jobs in IT are often dead-end, and it takes a lot of effort and some luck to break into the more interesting tech and higher pay ranges. A migration path from support to core IT might both draw better people to support roles and bring more savvy techs to core who have experience with the products.
Take better care of the little guys.
