Pros
  • WLB (You can usually take the day off early for doctor's appointments)
  • Stable job
Cons
  • So much legacy technology; like no one uses XML in Spring anymore.

  • There is definitely racial bias when it comes to promotions, favoring white employees over people of color, so it's not a meritocracy.

  • Lack of career growth.

  • The company is very much against WFH, so if you're looking to work remotely, look elsewhere (they'll prefer you to be on disability for a few years rather than working remotely).

  • Too much office politics and too hierarchical.

  • Managers working on their own careers instead of the careers of their reports.

Advice to Management

Management really needs to create a line of communication for employees to discuss things with their skip-level managers without fear of retaliation. So, if their manager is not doing their job, they have a choice other than just quitting.
