Software Engineer Interview Experience - Toronto, Canada

July 26, 2019
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

There was a phone screen interview with a recruiter, and then a CoderPad interview with a technical resource (also by phone).

During the phone screen, the recruiter attempted to provide guidance for the technical interview, but ended up being misleading and unhelpful.

The CoderPad interview had the look and feel of a programming contest instead of a pair programming session.

The interviewer was tense, impatient, misleading, and curt on the phone.

After several days, the recruiter called back with feedback from the technical interviewer and an attempt to provide a somewhat nice rejection.

Questions

Given a string, "Words ((firstkey)) more words ((secondkey))", and a hash table containing firstkey: "firstvalue" and secondkey: "secondvalue", return True if the string contains the keys in the hash table; otherwise, return False.
