Pros

Lots of communication encouraged (some teams do stand-ups and/or Scrum). Design docs are used everywhere. Everyone is very friendly and invested in Square's future. It felt like a really healthy culture for a growing company that's already been through the transition from a startup to a company of over 1000 people. Really interesting, impactful work is happening across the company, with room to grow and move around.

For interns, there are several events, a trip to Yosemite, assigned mentors and managers, and sessions to learn about projects and work happening across the company.

Cons

Interns and full-timers are expected to accept slightly lower compensation than what's competitive on the market. The silver lining to this is that the people who work there intentionally chose Square over a bigger company and are especially passionate about the vision and culture.

Advice to Management

The executive team is phenomenal and diverse. But Jack is unpredictable, for better or worse, and needs to decide between Square and Twitter.
