Pros: * Friendly coworkers * Exposure to many different technologies. (I did notice that most other reviews say the exact opposite, but as I mentioned in the headline, this really depends on the team you work for. Fortunately, my team uses more modern technologies in software development compared to the rest of the company.) I got to work in all parts of the technology stack, i.e., the backend, middleware, and the frontend, which usually doesn't happen in most software companies.

Cons: * Most R&D teams need to work with other teams, but usually there is no proper communication between them. You need to constantly badger the other team to get any work done. * Work can be very demanding sometimes.

Pros: The best learning experiences were in core C++, server-side coding, templates, and JavaScript asynchronous frameworks, etc. Then, out of nowhere, a reorg happens, and you are left with nothing that you built with so much hard work. Good pay, amazing benefits (best in NYC), a pretty building, rarely fires (always puts people on performance plans), very fast learning. The CEO discussed voluntary work that I did with them. They have amazing matches for community involvement (they matched $5,000 to my charity for my voluntary hours).

Cons: Too many reorgs (not just my team but others too). Very competitive; hard to get an "exceeds expectations." Proprietary tech, at times too fast-paced, with a steeper learning curve.

Pros: Workload is balanced with personal life. Learn many CS and financial knowledge. Free courses. Free food.

Cons: not fully match my background and interests.
