Applied online. The process included an online test, followed by a phone interview, and finally an on-site interview with HR and three software developers.
Common technical questions for software developers were asked. The interview was not too difficult, and they often helped with the answers.
The people were very nice, and the office in NY is very impressive.

Cons: * Long hours.
* Mandated working hours.
* Old technologies.
* If you hold an H1B visa as an SDE, do not work here if you want to switch companies before you get your green card. Bloomberg won't provide any employment verification letters as needed for the green card process if you switched to another company.

Pros: * Friendly coworkers
* Exposure to many different technologies. (I did notice that most other reviews say the exact opposite, but as I mentioned in the headline, this really depends on the team you work for. Fortunately, my team uses more modern technologies in software development compared to the rest of the company.) I got to work in all parts of the technology stack, i.e., the backend, middleware, and the frontend, which usually doesn't happen in most software companies.
Cons: * Most R&D teams need to work with other teams, but usually there is no proper communication between them. You need to constantly badger the other team to get any work done.
* Work can be very demanding sometimes.

Fantastic internship program with lots to learn and do

Pros: Great intern events throughout the summer, at least one per week. There is always something to do.
You're given your own project to work on and complete throughout the summer. When you're done, you get ample opportunities to show off what you've accomplished to upper management.
Everyone is willing to help or chat with you about their role or the company.
Lots of financial knowledge to gain, with provided classes in finance and tech.
Cons: The work isn't always super challenging or structured, which makes it hard to focus and be productive sometimes.
The tech can be a bit restrictive since it's almost all proprietary, but the people who literally built it are around and willing to help you leverage it the best you can.
Not a fan of the open floor plan.
