Process
I submitted my resume through a recruiter. After two business days, I was asked to complete an online test.
The questions were similar to GRE/LSAT logic questions, which I found to be quite easy.
Two days later, I received an email inviting me to schedule a phone interview.
During the phone interview, I was asked basic questions about C, some algorithms, and a few brain teasers. The interviewer was very pleasant.

Pros: You get to take things at your pace. You want to move fast and take up complex tasks? You can. Want to lay low for a few months while working on a part-time degree? Of course you can.
Cons: No pressure. Pretty old technology.
Some of the skills are not portable at all.

Pros: - The office is insanely cool (731 Lexington, headquarters).
- Free snacks include coffee, tea, toast, cereal, fruit, granola bars, chips, soda, juice, etc.
- There is a $100k starting salary for new grads in software, and $40/hr for interns.
- There is no dress code, and flexible work hours.
- The work environment among programmers is very open and collaborative.
Cons: - software for the financial industry means working with Suits (business people who take themselves way too seriously) and occasionally working insane hours to meet a deadline.
- high stress.

Good work-life balance,
Fast-paced work,
everyone gets a lot of responsibility,
the ability to quickly see the impact of your work
Cons: Legacy software. It's tougher to look for a job elsewhere once you quit due to the extremely proprietary nature of technologies used. Some very smart people, but a lot of people who have been writing GUI code in Fortran too.
