Process
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks.
4 stages:
- 1st stage - HR screen - general questions about your CV.
- 2nd stage - Manager screen - more technical questions about the projects you worked on and motivations working for Bloomberg.
- 3rd stage - Technical stage with 2 senior data engineers - 1 easy Leetcode question, followed by 3 data scenarios - no coding or diagramming more of a discussion.
- 4th stage - Final stage with head of department. Focusing more on how you work, communicate, mentor + a few surprise technical questions.
Big shout out to the Bloomberg recruitment team - there was very detailed feedback after each stage. Like a proper email, saying what the interviewers liked in particular. Since I didn't get the offer, I also got a detailed reason why I didn't get it, which was very reasonable and fair!

Pros: Good work-life balance.
The Princeton office has (or had at the time) the perks of meals and snacks.
People are generally pleasant to be around, and there didn't feel like a toxic culture.
Cons: - Not lots of upward progression.
- You usually answer to business units with somewhat trivial asks.
- Didn't really learn too much on the job that benefitted me afterwards.

Pros: Perfect conditions and working environment.
Cons: Limited space for "creativity," which creates a feeling of a "software factory." On the other hand, it's understandable, considering the level of support and reliability provided to the customer.
