I was given two LeetCode problems of medium difficulty. I was able to solve the first, and while in the process of solving the second, I was interrupted by the interviewer. He pushed on his solution, questioning if I was taking too long. In the midst of this, the interviewer told me that the way I approached the problem, by running incomplete code a number of times to test, was a negative sign.
I was going to ask if I should stop but proceeded, looking to see if the interviewer's ego would present itself again. Later, I learned that Bloomberg evaluates the process of code writing during these interviews down to variable naming and indentation.
It seems to be a pattern at Bloomberg to mention the significance of their employment (10+ years in the case of my interviewer) and show disinterest in the candidate's profile. The interviewer was polite, but the way the interview was conducted made me think that if joining Bloomberg means being surrounded by such toxic individuals shaming you on spacing and indentations in your code, then it's not a place I want to be.
