Pros: The company is fast-paced and has a start-up mentality. Bloomberg moves very quickly on business decisions. This company spends serious cash on making its offices and employees feel taken care of and is very green-conscious. Free snacks and continental breakfast are served daily.

Cons: There is no privacy anywhere in the office, and working here is like working in an airport. The company's main product, the Bloomberg Terminal, has a horribly outdated user interface that predates Microsoft Windows conventions. However, this has also probably helped to secure it as THE official financial tool of the industry. Management is a bit old-fashioned. There is a big emphasis on being in the office between 9 to 5, and flexible work arrangements are undervalued. The company would rather give its employees unlimited sick days than open up flexible work arrangements.

Pros: If you do well and have a supportive team leader and manager, they are very quick to give you more responsibility. Once you are established as a solid team player, there are many opportunities for growth, educational reimbursements, and slow but steady raises.

Cons: Some teams are decidedly better than others, ranging from a bunch of very competent folks that would do well almost anywhere, to other teams which seem to be what's left after years of the cream of the crop skimming off to other places. You are not allowed to actively trade, and moonlight coding for open source projects is, if not discouraged, at least made quite tedious and difficult.

Pros: If you are brand new and could not find other options, perhaps you may get your train in finance here. Remeber, try to switch to others as soon as possible when you get a chance.

Cons: 1. One will not be surprised to find those people who did not know much will be promoted to manager's positions if they know office politics. 2. A company that is practicing the "manage people out" strategy when one becomes 40+. 3. No career path future even if working hard.
