Pros: A lot of investment and focus on collaboration. A highly collaborative environment. Strong emphasis on mentorship, upskilling, and producing good leaders and engineers.

Cons: Highly skewed and asymmetric representation with respect to diversity. High European-origin and Asian-origin (particularly East-Asian) representation. Low representation of the Global South (with respect to origin). Little to no effort, nor desire, to address it from the management committee.

Pros: Good combination of high-calibre people with challenging work, which gives great work satisfaction at the end of the day. Lot of learning opportunities. Excellent pay.

Cons: Bloomberg is a huge company, and some teams are bad, so just be cautious about the team and the work that they do before joining.

Pros: In Bloomberg, management definitely thinks that engineers are their greatest asset, and they invest a lot into their engineers. There are multiple big internal conferences every year, hundreds of continuing education courses anyone can attend. It's quite simple to sign up for attending external conferences like CppCon as well. Bloomberg gives away most of its revenue for philanthropy. You can also sign up for multiple various activities yourself, like planting trees or helping the homeless, etc.

Cons: The compensation is a bit lower compared to FAANG. There's also no tech lead career path for most senior engineers not wanting to become a manager. On a bright side, you can contribute beyond your team.
