Pros: The atmosphere is fast-paced. The salary is decent, as are the bonuses (at least so far). Communication channels are fairly clear compared to many other places I've worked. I've seen some complaints about programmer notes in some of the other posts, but at least there are systems for tracking issues, projects, and work completed. I've worked in many places outside the finance industry where things aren't nearly as clear-cut. Many of the Plan B changes appear to be intended for improving retention, especially for employees with families. Bloomberg used to be notorious for requiring "face time" from employees; having the option to work at home for a day when kids are sick makes life a lot easier.

Cons: The hours can be long, it is expensive to live in or near NYC, and sometimes upper management decisions are a mystery.

Cons: Technology is not keeping pace with the world. Poor tech tooling can make life miserable. * No clear career growth path

Pros: - 3 days in office hybrid. - People are generally nice to work with. - Good compensation. - The company is pushing towards a unified CI/CD pipeline (in C++ and in Python). Most of the teams are already on it, and standardization is ongoing. - The company is in a stable financial position and, as a private company, it is doubtful there would be mass layoffs at any point. - The profits are mostly redistributed to charities. - The company encourages volunteering. - Good career opportunities - the company encourages going into leadership, but also expanding horizontally (upskilling, improving impact as an IC). - Good learning opportunities - frequent courses are done by Bloomberg and external teachers. - It is expanding self-serve DB / Message queuing / Redis, etc. capabilities - no need to get through much red tape if you need to set something up quickly.
