A recruiter reached out to me and started me with the interview process. I submitted a resume, which she passed on, and then received a request to interview for a team.
A few days later, they informed me that there was no longer a spot on that team and that they would put me forward for another.
I scheduled a one-hour phone screen. The interviewer clearly did not want to be there; he was quite rude throughout the process. Regardless, I decided to remain polite and finish the interview to the best of my ability. He asked a few behavioral questions about my current project, which I answered.
The technical problem was straightforward: a word search in a 2D matrix (LeetCode Medium). I finished it with time to spare, discussed some optimizations, wrote a test framework, and passed all test cases on the first try. I also added some edge cases, which also passed. We discussed space and time complexity. He told me everything was correct and that I had solved the problem as expected.
I was rejected two days later with no explanation. I would have appreciated some explanation or feedback because I am confused about what happened and would like to know for future interviews. The only things I can think of are:
I'm not sure.
