Pros: Good training program, especially from outside lecturers. Fanciest office I have ever seen. Great view on the 29th floor. Working hours are generally okay, although some teams are busier. Good benefits for people who are married or have children. People are generally nice.

Cons: This is based on my own experience; your mileage may vary. Salary has no correlation with how hard you work or how much work you did. Reviews and raises are subject to the favoritism of your manager. If your manager is nice, you are lucky; otherwise, you are underpaid compared with your peers. Micromanagement was so much that I felt no work could ever be finished. Your own ideas don't matter at all, so it's better to shut up and do whatever you are told. Lots of legacy code. Most of the time was spent figuring out a couple of seemingly trivial issues.

Pros: Good learning - something new to learn every day. Good management - easy to communicate with higher management and business. Salaries/Bonuses/Healthcare/Incentives - among the best in the country. Very beautiful office - this definitely counts in liking your job. Opportunities for fast growth. 20 vacation days - much better than many companies.

Cons: Hectic. Need to slog sometimes. Some legacy code to be dealt with at times, but this depends on the team. No cubicles, just desks. This makes it hard for personal matters, like checking your emails or answering personal calls. And your manager, his manager, his manager – all eyes are on you. Manhattan: Commuting time is high.

Pros: I have been working at Bloomberg for two years. It has an open culture, a free terminal, great benefits in NYC, a nice environment, and great people to work with.

Cons: Not really. The cost of living might be expensive if you want to balance commuting and quality of life.
