Software Development Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York

Process

It was onsite at my university. The interviewer asked me about one of the projects described in my resumé. Then, he asked me a coding question which I could solve quickly. However, he was looking for a very specific solution without telling me why. This was because what he wanted had the same time and space complexity, but in my opinion, made the code much harder and more complicated. Then, after some hints, I was able to solve the problem. After this, I started to perform the tests on the whiteboard, but he was not paying attention to me, only saying that I could tell him after I finished testing. After the interview, he asked if I had any questions for him.
