Process

I applied online and received an invitation email for a phone interview within 3-5 days. A week later, I had my interview with Bloomberg.

The interviewer called 25 minutes late and had a lot of outside noise around him, as if someone was washing dishes.

The interview included three questions to choose from.

  • I solved the first question but was unable to compile a program. I used Java, and the interviewer insisted on running two separate non-static classes with a static main method in one file. I explained that it's possible to do this in two separate files, but he kept asking me to fix it. He did not count the problem as correct, even though the logic and solution were sound.
  • He then asked me to solve another problem. It was an easy BST problem, but I was so nervous that I didn't realize how easy it was until the interviewer helped me. I solved it correctly after his assistance (my fault, I understand).

I received a rejection email two weeks later.

Questions

LinkedList, DFS, BST problems.
