My phone tech interview featured an unbelievably easy design problem, and the onsite interviews consisted of easy LeetCode problems. However, my first interviewer didn’t explain the problem fully to me and let me continue with my misunderstanding.
The second round after lunch was also easy. I found the correct answer for the data structure problem and did okay on the design problem.
I was very disappointed that the first interviewer let me believe I understood the problem correctly. I had been told that interviewers were pretty collaborative, so I was completely blindsided and incredulous when I saw the problem explained correctly later on the Bloomberg LeetCode guide.
Ultimately, I am relieved I didn’t get an offer. Otherwise, I would have felt compelled to quit upon hearing about Mike Bloomberg’s bigoted comments and the toxic, sexist work culture he enabled.
Perhaps I would have done better had I worn high heels, like he suggested women do back in the day. Or maybe I should spend more time in the library instead of Bloomingdale’s—another great suggestion for women to be taken seriously.
