Software Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York

Process

I was asked by a recruiter to apply for the New Grad Software Engineer position after completing a bootcamp. I didn't receive an offer, but overall, I appreciated the experience. The only drawback for me was that I was able to solve all the problems given with optimal time complexity but did not get an invitation to move to the HR or Manager rounds.

Tips:

  • For the technical part, you aren't asked to compile your code. The focus is on how well you understand the problem and communicate your solution.
  • Focus on studying LeetCode problems with the Bloomberg tag. All the questions I was asked were tagged on LeetCode.
  • If an interviewer suggests a way of solving the problem different from how you are solving it, DO IT THEIR WAY lol. Communication is key, and before you start coding, you should verify your interviewer has a clear understanding of your solution.

  • Basic questions about myself and my projects.
